There are 75 vineyards in the Hawke's Bay region, and with less than 48 hours, we shamelessly visited as many of the wineries as we possibly could. After all, a job worth doing is a job worth doing well. New Zealanders deserve to be proud of their wine-making industry, and it was a treat to experience the fruits of their labors.
A highlight for all 5 of us was our visit to Clearview Estate Winery. The grounds were beautiful, lunch was superb and the wines were especially good. We were particularly impressed with their Chardonnay and Syrah.
This was definitely one of my favorite stops! I think it boasted the best combination of food, wine, and atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteClearview was such a treat! Paul and I opened one of our New Zealand bottles of wine tonight...a 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot from Mudbrick on Wahieke Island near Auckland - delicious!
