ROAD TRIP!

Arguably the scariest part of this entire escapade so far has been...Driving! Global Medical (Tom's surgery placement firm) arranged for us to rent a car for the 3+ hour trip from Auckland to Rotorua. Thankfully, Tom took the wheel (located on the right side of the car...which is ALL wrong) and we headed out of Budget Rental onto the LEFT side of the road (which also feels all wrong). We somehow managed to escape the heavy city traffic of Auckland, only making one or 2 wrong turns before leaving town. Most of the trip was on the freeway, but it was a white-knuckler all the way. Every time Tom attempted to use the turning signal, he hit the windshield wiper. This turned out to be handy since it was pretty much a downpour the entire trip. At one point Tom finally felt comfortable enough to speak. His words? "I just can't see you doing this."

  1. Yikes! Stay safe (or just off the roads). I am currently avoiding the road in Houston because it's snowing (yes, in HOUSTON), and nobody knows how to drive in this mild, wintry weather.

  2. glad to hear you arrived safely! We're heading into single digit windchills here so enjoy what you have-even driving on the left.
