Auckland is a beautiful city surrounded by water on New Zealand’s North Island. We spent our first night here in order for Tom to meet with the Medical Consulate to finalize his medical credentials. Between the light rain, scenic harbour, surrounding hills, and bustling downtown, we were reminded of Seattle and San Francisco.People are every bit as friendly and helpful as we had been told. Moving to another English speaking country will make the transition relatively easy, but driving on the left side of the road will take some adjustment. We’ll get our first taste of driving tomorrow when we head to Rotorua.
I hope you do get to take lots of weekend side trips! I think spending a day or two in other towns really gave me a broader perspective of Thailand as a whole. Plus, you'll want to scout out the best places so that when I visit I can hit the pre-screened highlights. :) Stay safe on the roads!
