We could learn a thing or two from the Kiwis about recycling. A weekly trip to Rotorua's Recycling Centre reminds me how much more American's can and should do to reduce waste. The centre is quite the operation, taking everything from glass to cardboard, paper, aluminum cans, tin cans, milk jugs and lids, and very specifically sorted kinds of plastic. Folks line up to efficiently compartmentalize recycled items - consequently weekly garbage pick-ups on the street are quite small.
You've inspired me to blog about the recycle center I go to in Houston (I'll take pictures during my next visit). Though it's not nearly as comprehensive as the one in Rotorua, it gets the job done. Doesn't it make you feel all warm and fuzzy when you visit and mingle with other environmentally conscious people?
